Our Alumni

We are an organization led by youth, for youth. Though we represent many countries and many cultures, we are united in our passion for spreading cultural awareness and empowering youth to take autonomy over their education. These are the members that have contributed in the past and not currently active.

Spencer Madsen

Director of Finance

Spencer is from Albany, Oregon. While living in this small town he has found many role models who've shown him the importance of helping his community.  People have been put down in life because of their diversity, and while working with TWIU he has found ways to show that diversity is something to celebrate.  One of his favorite experiences was the planning and execution of a culture camp that allowed him to see the joy of kids as they learned of other world cultures. Outside of TWIU, he stays involved in serving his community any way he can; whether it’s putting on races for the benefit of a charity or educating his fellow youth on the importance of fiscal responsibility through his club.  In his free time he likes to play piano, play soccer, surf, tutor kids, play tennis and perform in plays.

Appreciating differences instead of suppressing them is the conclusion Ty came to, and then TWIU's Instagram page helped them out with just that. They hope to gain more insight on how to be more respectful with other cultures and glean on rich myths they couldn't have obtained anywhere else. Ty is the spokesperson for Ndiyo Teenz, a local East African group of teenagers striving to create a change in their societies, and is also part of the Aster Lit team. Their ambrosia is music, from any age to any genre, and they love to feel in this reality, penning down whatever they can.

She alleviates cultural stigma through her work at The World In Us and Only Being You, a social platform dedicated to empowering minority voices, tackling discrimination, and forming cultural allies. Similarly, Audrey is paving the way for improved inclusivity in the computer science world.
